설 교:자기 기만을 그치고 예수가 메시아라는 사실을 받아들이라

(요 7:25, 개정) 예루살렘 사람 중에서 어떤 사람이 말하되 이는 그들이 죽이고자 하는 그 사람이 아니냐

(요 7:26, 개정) 보라 드러나게 말하되 그들이 아무 말도 아니하는도다 당국자들은 이 사람을 참으로 그리스도인 줄 알았는가

(요 7:27, 개정) 그러나 우리는 이 사람이 어디서 왔는지 아노라 그리스도께서 오실 때에는 어디서 오시는지 아는 자가 없으리라 하는지라

(요 7:28, 개정) 예수께서 성전에서 가르치시며 외쳐 이르시되 너희가 나를 알고 내가 어디서 온 것도 알거니와 내가 스스로 온 것이 아니니라 나를 보내신 이는 참되시니 너희는 그를 알지 못하나

(요 7:29, 개정) 나는 아노니 이는 내가 그에게서 났고 그가 나를 보내셨음이라 하시니

(요 7:30, 개정) 그들이 예수를 잡고자 하나 손을 대는 자가 없으니 이는 그의 때가 아직 이르지 아니하였음이러라

(요 7:31, 개정) 무리 중의 많은 사람이 예수를 믿고 말하되 그리스도께서 오실지라도 그 행하실 표적이 이 사람이 행한 것보다 더 많으랴 하니

(요 7:32, 개정) 예수에 대하여 무리가 수군거리는 것이 바리새인들에게 들린지라 대제사장들과 바리새인들이 그를 잡으려고 아랫사람들을 보내니

(요 7:33, 개정) 예수께서 이르시되 내가 너희와 함께 조금 더 있다가 나를 보내신 이에게로 돌아가겠노라

(요 7:34, 개정) 너희가 나를 찾아도 만나지 못할 터이요 나 있는 곳에 오지도 못하리라 하시니

(요 7:35, 개정) 이에 유대인들이 서로 묻되 이 사람이 어디로 가기에 우리가 그를 만나지 못하리요 헬라인 중에 흩어져 사는 자들에게로 가서 헬라인을 가르칠 터인가

(요 7:36, 개정) 나를 찾아도 만나지 못할 터이요 나 있는 곳에 오지도 못하리라 한 이 말이 무슨 말이냐 하니라

(요 7:37, 개정) 명절 끝날 곧 큰 날에 예수께서 서서 외쳐 이르시되 누구든지 목마르거든 내게로 와서 마시라

(요 7:38, 개정) 나를 믿는 자는 성경에 이름과 같이 그 배에서 생수의 강이 흘러나오리라 하시니

(요 7:39, 개정) 이는 그를 믿는 자들이 받을 성령을 가리켜 말씀하신 것이라 (예수께서 아직 영광을 받지 않으셨으므로 성령이 아직 그들에게 계시지 아니하시더라)

(요 7:40, 개정) 이 말씀을 들은 무리 중에서 어떤 사람은 이 사람이 참으로 그 선지자라 하며

(요 7:41, 개정) 어떤 사람은 그리스도라 하며 어떤 이들은 그리스도가 어찌 갈릴리에서 나오겠느냐

(요 7:42, 개정) 성경에 이르기를 그리스도는 다윗의 씨로 또 다윗이 살던 마을 베들레헴에서 나오리라 하지 아니하였느냐 하며

(요 7:43, 개정) 예수로 말미암아 무리 중에서 쟁론이 되니

(요 7:44, 개정) 그 중에는 그를 잡고자 하는 자들도 있으나 손을 대는 자가 없었더라

(요 7:45, 개정) 아랫사람들이 대제사장들과 바리새인들에게로 오니 그들이 묻되 어찌하여 잡아오지 아니하였느냐

(요 7:46, 개정) 아랫사람들이 대답하되 그 사람이 말하는 것처럼 말한 사람은 이 때까지 없었나이다 하니

(요 7:47, 개정) 바리새인들이 대답하되 너희도 미혹되었느냐

(요 7:48, 개정) 당국자들이나 바리새인 중에 그를 믿는 자가 있느냐

(Jn 7:25, NIV) At that point some of the people of Jerusalem began to ask, "Isn't this the man they are trying to kill?

(Jn 7:26, NIV) Here he is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying a word to him. Have the authorities really concluded that he is the Christ?

(Jn 7:27, NIV) But we know where this man is from; when the Christ comes, no one will know where he is from."

(Jn 7:28, NIV) Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts, cried out, "Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from. I am not here on my own, but he who sent me is true. You do not know him,

(Jn 7:29, NIV) but I know him because I am from him and he sent me."

(Jn 7:30, NIV) At this they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him, because his time had not yet come.

(Jn 7:31, NIV) Still, many in the crowd put their faith in him. They said, "When the Christ comes, will he do more miraculous signs than this man?"

(Jn 7:32, NIV) The Pharisees heard the crowd whispering such things about him. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees sent temple guards to arrest him.

(Jn 7:33, NIV) Jesus said, "I am with you for only a short time, and then I go to the one who sent me.

(Jn 7:34, NIV) You will look for me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come."

(Jn 7:35, NIV) The Jews said to one another, "Where does this man intend to go that we cannot find him? Will he go where our people live scattered among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?

(Jn 7:36, NIV) What did he mean when he said, 'You will look for me, but you will not find me,' and'Where I am, you cannot come'?"

(Jn 7:37, NIV) On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.

(Jn 7:38, NIV) Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him."

(Jn 7:39, NIV) By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

(Jn 7:40, NIV) On hearing his words, some of the people said, "Surely this man is the Prophet."

(Jn 7:41, NIV) Others said, "He is the Christ." Still others asked, "How can the Christ come from Galilee?

(Jn 7:42, NIV) Does not the Scripture say that the Christ will come from David's family and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?"

(Jn 7:43, NIV) Thus the people were divided because of Jesus.

(Jn 7:44, NIV) Some wanted to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him.

(Jn 7:45, NIV) Finally the temple guards went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, "Why didn't you bring him in?"

(Jn 7:46, NIV) "No one ever spoke the way this man does," the guards declared.

(Jn 7:47, NIV) "You mean he has deceived you also?" the Pharisees retorted.

(Jn 7:48, NIV) "Has any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?
