(출 18:1, 개정)모세의 장인이며 미디안 제사장인 이드로가 하나님이 모세에게와
자기 백성 이스라엘에게 하신 일 곧 여호와께서 이스라엘을
애굽에서 인도하여 내신 모든 일을 들으니라
(출 18:2, 개정)모세의 장인 이드로가 모세가 돌려 보냈던 그의 아내 십보라와
(출 18:3, 개정)그의 두 아들을 데리고 왔으니 그 하나의 이름은 게르솜이라
이는 모세가 이르기를 내가 이방에서 나그네가 되었다 함이요
(출 18:4, 개정)하나의 이름은 엘리에셀이라 이는 내 아버지의 하나님이 나를
도우사 바로의 칼에서 구원하셨다 함이더라
(출 18:5, 개정)모세의 장인 이드로가 모세의 아들들과 그의 아내와 더불어 광야에
들어와 모세에게 이르니 곧 모세가 하나님의 산에 진 친 곳이라
(출 18:6, 개정)그가 모세에게 말을 전하되 네 장인 나 이드로가 네 아내와 그와
함께 한 그의 두 아들과 더불어 네게 왔노라
(출18:7, 개정)모세가 나가서 그의 장인을 맞아 절하고 그에게 입 맞추고 그들이
서로 문안하고 함께 장막에 들어가서
(출 18:8, 개정)모세가 여호와께서 이스라엘을 위하여 바로와 애굽 사람에게
행하신 모든 일과 길에서 그들이 당한 모든 고난과 여호와께서
그들을 구원하신 일을 다 그 장인에게 말하매
(출 18:9, 개정)이드로가 여호와께서 이스라엘에게 큰 은혜를 베푸사
애굽 사람의 손에서 구원하심을 기뻐하여
(출 18:10, 개정)이드로가 이르되 여호와를 찬송하리로다 너희를 애굽 사람의
손에서와 바로의 손에서 건져내시고 백성을 애굽 사람의 손
아래에서 건지셨도다
(출 18:11, 개정)이제 내가 알았도다 여호와는 모든 신보다 크시므로
이스라엘에게 교만하게 행하는 그들을 이기셨도다 하고
(출 18:12, 개정)모세의 장인 이드로가 번제물과 희생제물들을 하나님께
가져오매 아론과 이스라엘 모든 장로가 와서 모세의 장인과
함께 하나님 앞에서 떡을 먹으니라
(Ex 18:1 NI) Now Jethro, the priest of Midian and father-in-law of Moses, heard
of everything God had done for Moses and for his people Israel,
and how the LORD had brought Israel out of Egypt.
(Ex 18:2 NI)After Moses had sent away his wife Zipporah, his father-in-law Jethro
received her
(Ex 18:3 NI)and her two sons. One son was named Gershom, for Moses said, "I
have become an alien in a foreign land";
(Ex 18:4 NI)and the other was named Eliezer, for he said, "My father's God was
my helper; he saved me from the sword of Pharaoh."
(Ex 18:5 NI)Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, together with Moses' sons and wife,
came to him in the desert, where he was camped near the mountain
of God.
(Ex 18:6 NI)Jethro had sent word to him, "I, your father-in-law Jethro, am coming
to you with your wife and her two sons."
(Ex 18:7 NI)So Moses went out to meet his father-in-law and bowed down and
kissed him. They greeted each other and then went into the tent.
(Ex 18:8 NI)Moses told his father-in-law about everything the LORD had done to
Pharaoh and the Egyptians for Israel's sake and about all the
hardships they had met along the way and how the LORD had saved
them.
(Ex 18:9 NI)Jethro was delighted to hear about all the good things the LORD had
done for Israel in rescuing them from the hand of the Egyptians.
(Ex 18:10 NI)He said, "Praise be to the LORD, who rescued you from the hand of
the Egyptians and of Pharaoh, and who rescued the people from the
hand of the Egyptians.
(Ex 18:11 NI) Now I know that the LORD is greater than all other gods, for he did
this to those who had treated Israel arrogantly."
(Ex 18:12 NI)Then Jethro, Moses' father-in-law, brought a burnt offering and
other sacrifices to God, and Aaron came with all the elders of
Israel to eat bread with Moses' father-in-law in the presence
of God.
