(단 1:1, 개정) 유다 왕 여호야김이 다스린 지 삼 년이 되는 해에 바벨론 왕 느부갓네살이 예루살렘에 이르러 성을 에워쌌더니
(단 1:2, 개정) 주께서 유다 왕 여호야김과 하나님의 전 그릇 얼마를 그의 손에 넘기시매 그가 그것을 가지고 시날 땅 자기 신들의 신전에 가져다가 그 신들의 보물 창고에 두었더라
(단 1:3, 개정) 왕이 환관장 아스부나스에게 말하여 이스라엘 자손 중에서 왕족과 귀족 몇 사람
(단 1:4, 개정) 곧 흠이 없고 용모가 아름다우며 모든 지혜를 통찰하며 지식에 통달하며 학문에 익숙하여 왕궁에 설 만한 소년을 데려오게 하였고 그들에게 갈대아 사람의 학문과 언어를 가르치게 하였고
(단 1:5, 개정) 또 왕이 지정하여 그들에게 왕의 음식과 그가 마시는 포도주에서 날마다 쓸 것을 주어 삼 년을 기르게 하였으니 그 후에 그들은 왕 앞에 서게 될 것이더라
(단 1:6, 개정) 그들 가운데는 유다 자손 곧 다니엘과 하나냐와 미사엘과 아사랴가 있었더니
(단 1:7, 개정) 환관장이 그들의 이름을 고쳐 다니엘은 벨드사살이라 하고 하나냐는 사드락이라 하고 미사엘은 메삭이라 하고 아사랴는 아벳느고라 하였더라
(Dn 1:1, NIV) In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem and besieged it.
(Dn 1:2, NIV) And the Lord delivered Jehoiakim king of Judah into his hand, along with some of the articles from the temple of God. These he carried off to the temple of his god in Babylonia and put in the treasure house of his god.
(Dn 1:3, NIV) Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, chief of his court officials, to bring in some of the Israelites from the royal family and the nobility--
(Dn 1:4, NIV) young men without any physical defect, handsome, showing aptitude for every kind of learning, well informed, quick to understand, and qualified to serve in the king's palace. He was to teach them the language and literature of the Babylonians.
(Dn 1:5, NIV) The king assigned them a daily amount of food and wine from the king's table. They were to be trained for three years, and after that they were to enter the king's service.
(Dn 1:6, NIV) Among these were some from Judah： Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah.
(Dn 1:7, NIV) The chief official gave them new names： to Daniel, the name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah, Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abednego.
