말씀: 사울과 다윗

(삼상 18:6, 개정) 무리가 돌아올 때 곧 다윗이 블레셋 사람을 죽이고 돌아올 때에 여인들이 이스라엘 모든 성읍에서 나와서 노래하며 춤추며 소고와 경쇠를 가지고 왕 사울을 환영하는데

(삼상 18:7, 개정) 여인들이 뛰놀며 노래하여 이르되 사울이 죽인 자는 천천이요 다윗은 만만이로다 한지라

(삼상 18:8, 개정) 사울이 그 말에 불쾌하여 심히 노하여 이르되 다윗에게는 만만을 돌리고 내게는 천천만 돌리니 그가 더 얻을 것이 나라 말고 무엇이냐 하고

(삼상 18:9, 개정) 그 날 후로 사울이 다윗을 주목하였더라

(삼상 18:10, 개정) 그 이튿날 하나님께서 부리시는 악령이 사울에게 힘 있게 내리매 그가 집 안에서 정신 없이 떠들어대므로 다윗이 평일과 같이 손으로 수금을 타는데 그 때에 사울의 손에 창이 있는지라

(삼상 18:11, 개정) 그가 스스로 이르기를 내가 다윗을 벽에 박으리라 하고 사울이 그 창을 던졌으나 다윗이 그의 앞에서 두 번 피하였더라

(삼상 18:12, 개정) 여호와께서 사울을 떠나 다윗과 함께 계시므로 사울이 그를 두려워한지라

(삼상 18:13, 개정) 그러므로 사울이 그를 자기 곁에서 떠나게 하고 그를 천부장으로 삼으매 그가 백성 앞에 출입하며

(삼상 18:14, 개정) 다윗이 그의 모든 일을 지혜롭게 행하니라 여호와께서 그와 함께 계시니라

(삼상 18:15, 개정) 사울은 다윗이 크게 지혜롭게 행함을 보고 그를 두려워하였으나

(삼상 18:16, 개정) 온 이스라엘과 유다는 다윗을 사랑하였으니 그가 자기들 앞에 출입하기 때문이었더라

(1Sm 18:6, NIV) When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with tambourines and lutes.

(1Sm 18:7, NIV) As they danced, they sang： "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands."

(1Sm 18:8, NIV) Saul was very angry; this refrain galled him. "They have credited David with tens of thousands," he thought, "but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?"

(1Sm 18:9, NIV) And from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David.

(1Sm 18:10, NIV) The next day an evil spirit from God came forcefully upon Saul. He was prophesying in his house, while David was playing the harp, as he usually did. Saul had a spear in his hand

(1Sm 18:11, NIV) and he hurled it, saying to himself, "I'll pin David to the wall." But David eluded him twice.

(1Sm 18:12, NIV) Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with David but had left Saul.

(1Sm 18:13, NIV) So he sent David away from him and gave him command over a thousand men, and David led the troops in their campaigns.

(1Sm 18:14, NIV) In everything he did he had great success, because the LORD was with him.

(1Sm 18:15, NIV) When Saul saw how successful he was, he was afraid of him.

(1Sm 18:16, NIV) But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he led them in their campaigns.

(1Sm 18:17, NIV) Saul said to David, "Here is my older daughter Merab. I will give her to you in marriage; only serve me bravely and fight the battles of the LORD." For Saul said to himself, "I will not raise a hand against him. Let the Philistines do that!"

(1Sm 18:18, NIV) But David said to Saul, "Who am I, and what is my family or my father's clan in Israel, that I should become the king's son-in-law?"
